At the same I want to cause as little negative impact on the actual environment as I can while running a business. Zero waste is a lofty goal and can be overwhelming, even stressful – but we can try to create less waste where possible. Taking those first steps, however small, is what's important. (Not to mention the onus of pollution and climate change should fall on large corporations – its biggest producers – and things like carbon footprint were invented by them to shift responsibility onto the consumer but let’s not get into that.)
To that end, here at Bathroom Cult, from production to packaging I try to be conscious of my output and make sure I use materials that are recyclable, compostable, or biodegradable. You’ll find that at present all my labeling – with designs invoking apothecary style – is paper based rather than vinyl. Candles are shipped with eco-wrap and biodegradable packing peanuts, and soap and wax melts are wrapped in glassine paper. Like with magic, while pomp and ceremony are great, it’s what’s on the inside that counts – and what you’ll find inside are products of mystical quality.
